During January-August 2018, the 128.2% growth was highest among all exporting nations to Japan.
Bangladesh is the second largest garments exporter in the world. Its apparel companies, especially knitwear companies, are preparing products very carefully, for Japan. The Japanese are proud of using readymade garments of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Rabab Fatima has said these while delivering her keynote speech at the Bangladesh Seminar held on 22 October in the Tokyo Big Sight on the “Opportunities and challenges of Bangladesh in the Japanese apparel market.”
She also informed that Japan is the number one destination for garments products in Asia.
Rabab Fatima said, “Knitwear is currently our number one export item to Japan. In terms of both value and volume, Bangladesh is the third largest garments exporter to Japan with 5.9% of the volume of share and 3.9% of the value of Japanese imports.”

The Embassy of Bangladesh organized the seminar in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Export Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh, and was supported by Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Japan-Bangladesh Committee for Commercial and Economic Co-operation (JBCCCEC), the Japan and Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI & TCCI) and Japan Textile Importers Association (JTIA).
Eleven clothing and leather companies from Bangladesh are attending Fashion World Tokyo 2018. The ambassador inaugurated the Bangladesh pavilion and thanked the exhibitors of the participating organizations.
The event was a perfect business matching opportunity for both Japanese buyers and Bangladeshi companies.
JETRO Research Manager Tomofumi Nishizawa, UNIDO Industrial Development Officer Ikue Toshinaga, JTIA Senior Researcher Yoshiaki Kamiyama and Atsuyuki Sano of CAT Garment were present in the seminar among many buyers and representatives of Japanese companies.
